Union General Hospital Auxiliary receives Grant from BI-LO

Once again, Claudia Parks, President of the Union General Hospital Auxiliary was contacted one morning with a call from BI-LO Stores, but this time it was from BI-LO Charities of Mauldin, South Carolina. “I was told that the Auxiliary will be receiving grant funds from BI-LO Charities. I was elated!”
Last May, Brenda Reed, Manager of our local Blairsville BI-LO, contacted Claudia to apply for a grant which would be given by the BI-LO Charities in November, if the required grant request was provided. Claudia promptly completed and submitted all the forms and documentation. The Auxiliary already participates in the boosterplus program which enables us to raise money for the Auxiliary just by shopping at BI-LO—and for which we appreciate the help from many of you in our community. Brenda also received the information and the check to present to the Auxiliary.
The check was for $1,282.30, another exciting moment! The Auxiliary will be able to move forward with their plans to bring to fruition a computer lab at the Union County Nursing Home. There are capable residents who can use them for email, receiving photos—of family, especially grandchildren! Also, some will be able to play games which can stimulate their minds and improve cognitive and dexterity skills. Ted Noelle, Auxiliary member, will head-up this enterprise, working with Doug Davenport, Nursing Home Administrator. The Auxiliary has many different projects that we help with in our community, along with volunteering at the UG Hospital, Nursing Home and awarding scholarships for students going into the health care field.
We truly appreciate Brenda Reed at our local BI-LO Store and BI-LO Charities in assisting and encouraging us with our different undertakings in our community.
