BI-LO’s “Booster Plus” Program Supports Habitat for Humanity

The Bi-Lo “booster plus” program supports local non-profit charities by donating a percentage to qualified charities that are registered with Bi-Lo.  This past year, Habitat for Humanity supporters and Bi-Lo teamed up to raise over $2,000 for the next Habitat house which will begin this spring.  It will be the eleventh house for the Towns/Union County Affiliate.

Dagmar A. Taylor,Chair of the Fund Development Committee says,”It’s amazing what can happen when you invest a gesture, a little effort, and some good hearted people who believe in a worthy mission.  With the gesture of having a coupon scanned ONE TIME by shoppers at Bi-Lo, the customers participating in the Bi-Lo “booster-plus” fund-raising program are benefiting Habitat for Humanity Towns/Union Counties.”

A very BIG THANK YOU to Bi-Lo, to Brenda Reed, manager of the Blairsville Bi-Lo, to the local community of loyal Bi-Lo shoppers, and to the volunteers involved in making the connection. We gratefully acknowledge everyone’s participation which resulted in our not only making our anticipated goal, but almost tripling last year’s campaign.  THANK YOU on behalf of the next family we will be able help with a Hand-Up not Hand-Out.

A  special thank you to the following:  Bobbie Tower, Carli DeGolyer, Alice Deyo, Sarah Foster, Bob Hiler, Leila Hobbs, Walt & Nancy Shumway, Anne Sorrelle, and Donna Towery for their contributions in distributing the coupons at Bi-Lo in last summer’s heat!  Ground breaking for the next Habitat house will be announced in the next couple of weeks.  We hope to complete the house before the heat of summer.

Habitat has need for a few volunteers that can work in the office one or two mornings per month.  The office is normally open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from nine to noon.  Call the office for more information at 706-379-2484.
