Myrtle Fortenberry Hood

Mrs. Myrtle Fortenberry Hood age 63 of Pond Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday April 23, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Hood was born on April 12, 1948 in Union County, the daughter of the late Edmond Fortenberry and the late Dora Phillips Fortenberry. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Myrtle enjoyed Gardening, Canning, sewing and planting flowers. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Hood in 1995 and also by two brothers, Donald and T.N. Fortenberry. Mrs. Hood was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Hood are one son, Brian Hood of Blairsville, two sisters, Montine Burke of Fountain, FL., Frankie Carney of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Bruce and Marie Fortenberry of Calhoun, GA., several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Ned Wilcoxon, Kelley Brewer and Ralph Grice. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff Fortenberry, Jonathan Fortenberry, Franklin Carney, Lee C arney, Jack Brown and Waymon Morgan. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9pm.
